Thailand DTV Visa from London — What the Embassy Actually Requires

Since 31 August 2026 you can only apply for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) in your country of nationality or legal residence. If that is the UK or Ireland, the Royal Thai Embassy in London is your mission — and its bank test reads very differently from the American one. Here are its key figures.

London — verified figures

Verified on 2026-10-22 from the Royal Thai Embassy London's published DTV checklist (as read on 8 Sep 2026). Confirm the current checklist via the Thai e-Visa portal (thaievisa.go.th) before you file — rules change.

The two mistakes London applicants make most

  1. Reading "no statement period" as "anything goes". The missing period is not a loophole: an unexplained lump sum that landed in your account last week is still the weakest possible file. A balance with a visible history beats a fresh deposit of the same size, every time.
  2. Filing on someone else's money. Adult applicants sometimes rely on a partner's or parent's balance plus a sponsorship letter. London accepts sponsorship letters only for applicants under 16 — an adult file built on another person's funds is a refusal with a non-refundable £300 fee.
